FRAPPUDEENO – HEALTHY SUMMER CRUSHED ICE DRINK RECIPE
As the weather starts to warm up my desire for hot frothy coffees and chai latte’s starts to wane and I start getting a fancy for one of my summertime favourites, a crushed ice drink known under various different names depending on which coffee shop you use.
The only trouble is as yummy as they are they’re not always so friendly to your health, they are often packed with sugar and additives.
When the weather warms up I could easily have one of these every day and all that sugar could sabotage my bikini body goals.
One day I decided to try and make my own healthier version that actually had a few health benefits too.
It was so easy to do and I was really pleased with the taste.
I added a little maca powder to the mix as it’s great for balancing hormones naturally and can help with low energy, and also some cinnamon which is good for stabilising blood sugar and preventing cravings.
Having the protein powder as well it helps to keep you full and stops mid-afternoon snacking.
My version is dairy and gluten free but if you like you can use vanilla whey protein which is made from milk.
I loved it, I hope you do too! Here’s what I did
- 1-2 scoops of vanilla protein powder
- 1 teaspoon of maca powder
- Half a teaspoon of cinnamon
- Half a cup of vanilla soya milk
- 1 cup of water
- A cup of ice
Add the milk and water into a blender, then add the rest of the ingredients with the ice last.
Blitz until thick and icy.
